Happy New Year and Welcome to Children’s Literature Crossroads!
I was trying to come up with something witty and interesting for this first post. An explanation of why there is, yet another children’s literature blog when there are so many out there that I can’t read them all. I thought about explaining how I am a graduate student and avid reader, a mom and a teacher. But then I thought, these people don’t know me (except my close friends and family who are here because I emailed them) that doesn’t mean much.
So if you don’t know me (or think you do) here is what you need to know about me and why I started this blog:
I love children’s literature and YA literature.
I love teaching.
I love reading.
I love talking and thinking about all of these topics (and more).
I love talking to librarians and teachers, authors and illustrators, young and experienced readers.
I have discovered that the more people I talk to, the more I learn and discover about literature, teaching, kids, and reading. My goal for this blog is for me to put my thinking out about children’s literature and teaching – out in the wild public. I hope that you will join me and let me know what you think!
I am looking forward to reading this blog and getting to read some great books!
Welcome to blogging! I hope you enjoy it–it can take a while before people start finding you, so don’t get discouraged.
Good luck! Make sure you visit a lot of blogs that have the same focus as yours. That’s a good way to increase your circle!
Thanks for the advice msyingling – always appreciated!
